Art: Making a bird out of autumn leaves and twigs etc.

I am homeschooling my daughter, to try to educate her with less pressure and more real world experience. This blog is to share ideas and keep a record of some highlights.

I am homeschooling my daughter, to try to educate her with less pressure and more real world experience. This blog is to share ideas and keep a record of some highlights.

Making a Mosaic owl.
Making bunting at a cafe in a railway carriage.
Taking a friend to Haywards Heath toy shop and park.
Making many types of paper aeroplane and seeing how they fly.

Reasons to homeschool my daughter.

Reasons to homeschool my daughter.

1. I'm not convinced that sitting in a classroom with 29 other kids being talked to and writing things down is the best way for children to learn. It's too much listening and writing and not enough looking and doing.

2. Primary schools in the UK are closing gardens and ponds to make room for more academics, or due to lack of funding.

3. Employers are asking for more "soft skills" things that can't be measured in exams, such as communication skills, leadership and flexibility while schools and being directed towards more academic skills and more rigidity.

4. My daughter can travel with us.
